Television
Many guys would love to have a television in their dorm room if they do not already have one. Most people do like to watch television sometimes, and a lot of guys like to watch sports or other programs on television. Although there is often a television in the dorm lounge, this is often split between a lot of people. This can make a very good gift. Televisions have gotten much smaller over the past few years, thus someone with a very small dorm room might still be able to mount a thin television on the wall (the bulky barely-available picture tubes of yesteryear might have never fit). This doesn’t have to be expensive, with some televisions running under $100.
DVR or DVD recorder
Students are often very busy in college. There may be a show that they want to watch, but they still want to go out. A great gift could be some sort of machine for recording shows such as a DVR system or a DVD recorder. The DVR systems often have an initial fee and then a subscription fee. DVD recorders come with many different features and are at a lot of different price points in order to fit different budgets.
Small appliance such as a toaster
A male college student may find a small appliance useful, such as a toaster. Before buying him something like this, you might want to find out what he is allowed to have in his dorm room. Certain schools have a lot of regulations in this area, and you obviously do not want to buy him something that he will not be able to use in the foreseeable future.
Comfy chair
The chairs in dorm rooms are not generally known for their comfort. Yet, many students sit in their dorm rooms for hours, studying and doing homework. One great gift could be a nice comfy chair from which he can do this. This can also help his posture and/or any back or similar problems. A chair can be a personal thing, so you may want to consider telling him what you would like to get him and having him pick out the exact chair. These can also range in price quite a bit.

If you break up right after Christmas, what happens with the gifts?
My boyfriend of eight months broke up with me the day after Christmas. He took back the Tiffany’s necklace he gave me, but failed to give back any of his gifts. I didn’t ask for them back at the risk of sounding caddy and also because they were gifts that I specifically got for him…its not like i’m going to give them to someone else. Some of them(like an Atlanta Braves blanket I sewed for him are custom made for him…who else can I give that to? nobody likes the braves…) All together I spent about 300 dollars, and thats alot on a broke college students budget. Anyways, the more I think about it the more angry I get. Shouldn’t he have at least offered to give them back?! I feel like asking for them back but at the same time think that would be bitchy and just drag me back into the whole mess. Should I just take it as a lesson learned and forget about him and the money or ask for the gifts back?
if he took back a gift he already gave you then ask for yours back. Id do that 100%.
